Where the three rivers meet
Yalding sits where the Teise and the Beult flow into the Medway. Twyford Bridge, one of the longest medieval bridges in the south-east, crosses the Medway by the Lees. Living near water has its own problems for windows and rooflines. Mist off the rivers keeps glass and frames damp, algae grows quickly on the shady side of the house, and after high water the downstairs windows can be left spattered with dirt.
